NEW YORK CITY -- We have to admit, this are not the teams we thought would make the final. Sure, Fastbreak NYC is the defending champion, but coming into the Semis with just five players, against a team they lost to in the regular season. It didn't look good.

Boomtown was even worse off, facing a team that had previously blown them out by 45 pts. Revenge must have been very sweet. They played their butts off to get here. And, the Breakers orchestrated a masterful win. Both teams deserve to be here. That much is certain.

The veteran Breakers will play methodically. And if they follow last week's game plan, they'll stay away from Boomtown's chaotic play. They'll control the tempo, and go to (F) Youssef Hulse down the stretch. BOO will look to disrupt with their aggressive play, but they tend to wear down by the 2nd half. Particularly, (F) Nate Jones, who carries the offensive load.

The tricky part is, despite the fact that they probably need to pace themselves better, they probably can't against FBN. They can't afford to let FBN sit back and pick them apart--and they actually do a good job of baiting FBN to play their pace. In their last two match-ups, BOO has played Fastbreak very well, winning the first in OT, losing the second in the 4th qtr. We expect the same kind of game in the championship this Wednesday night. -- FBNYC

Match-Up
(G) Ren Hsieh

B

B+

(G) Jack Delighter

FBN's floor-leader Hsieh is shooting better this season, which is big for FBN. Delighter has had most of the min here with Jones at point forward. Nobody plays harder.
(G) Pat Armstrong

B+

B

(G) Keith Markovich

Armstrong forces defenses to stay on their toes with his constant movement, and run out in transition. Markovich has been a bit streaky, but is capable of a big game.
(F) Will Haile

A+

A+

(F) Nate Jones

He does it all, and he's the heart and soul of the team. Haile will contribute on both sides of the ball. Jones may be the best scorer off the bounce in the league. They will need him to keep the pressure on.
(F) Youssef Hulse

A+

A-

(F) Jake Moreno

Hulse is the Breakers' franchise player if ever there was one. They rely on him to do it all down the stretch. And, he can. If Moreno is hitting shots, BOO is tough to stop. But, injury may be affecting him.
(C) Mo Ghumman

B+

B

(C) Bryant Picone

Ghumman is a wily vet, but his big scoring days are behind him. He's still a key piece for FBN. Picone at his best is a defensive stalwart. BOO will need him at peak form.
BENCH
(G) Ace Watana
(F) James Bartlett
(C) Len Kamdang

BENCH
(G) Evan Silver
(G) Josh Puritz
(F) Brett Heller

Watana was huge in FBN's win over PRS, and he brings offense. Bartlett is one of the best help defenders in the league and may start. Boomtown brings in solid hustle players off the bench, and Puritz is a player coach.

(5) Boomtown

Wednesday (6/4) 8:45pm @ The King (MLK HS)

Former REN (G) Adam Eldridge in his first venture as capt has put up a solid squad. There are lot of new faces, but keeping (F) Jason Crowell and (F) Askia Davis has been a great move. They will always give MBX a chance, but (G) Adrian Sutherland's play may be the x-factor.

Boomtown comes into every season on the cusp of being a contender, but something always seems to trip them up. They have limped into this season's playoffs, but led by (F) Nate Jones, they have enough talent that if they get hot for a few games, they could still take it all.

(6) The Monstars

Wednesday (6/4) 9:45pm @ The King (MLK HS)

In some ways this has been the defending champion Breakers' best season yet. (F) Youssef Hulse and (F) Will Haile have never played better, and (G) Ren Hsieh has found his jumper. Losing (G) Kash Miah is tough, but (G) Ace Watanasuparp brings better perimeter D.

The Monstars have some very good top end talent, their problem has been inconsistency in their roster. (F) Brett Marfurt is a gunner who gave FBN fits in their reg season match-up. If (F) Kaylen Gregory is healthy, this is a team with enough talent to be a dark horse favorite.
