In just his second game back in FBNYC play, the veteran Kwak put up career numbers. He was a dominant presence against an IVC team with a formidable front-line. Kwak came up bigger.

R-Up: Dez James (ROC) 24 pts, 22 reb, 4 blk
The Sam Lo Award for Hustlers

Zach Moretti (SXB) 16 reb, 3 blk

Moretti has always played hard, but the athletic (F) reached uncharted territory with this 16 reb, 3 blk effort. The former a new career-high.

Runner-Up: Dez James (ROC) 22 reb, 4 blk
Wat Misaka Defensive Player of the Week

M. Santos (70S) 6 reb, 4 stl, 4 blk

The veteran scorer is an underrated defender. Not as much 1-on-1 as he can be a great help defender, and he proved as much vs NYC.

Runner-Up: Dez James (ROC) 22 reb, 4 blk
The High-5 Club

Tom Bello, Jr. (ROC) 2-3-3-1-2
AJ Grossbard (DEM) 7-1-1-1-1

Spot Dessert Bar™ Rookie of the Week

Dez James (ROC) 24 pts, 22 reb

James showed some signs in his first game in limited time. In Wk 2, ROC let him loose, and he dominated all over the court.

R-Up: DeVaughn Cunningham (NYC) 19 pts, 12 reb
The "John Starks" Award

M. Petrovic (70S) | 6-22 FGs (.273)

It is a testament to how much of a threat he is that he can shoot under 30%, and it still feels like he was a dominant presence. 70's got the win.

Dishonorable Mention: Ben Lev (NYC) 7-24 FGs
The "Chris Dudley" Award

Elbert Kwak (NGC) | 3-8 FTs (.375)

Kwak has never been a great shooter from the charity stripe. Luckily, IVC didn't test him at the line very much, and Gritty also got the win.

Dishonorable Mention: Matija Petrovic (70S) 3-7 FTs

2K14 SUM Week 2 Power RankingsFBNYC, 7.16.14

Summer 2014 1st Division Power Rankings - Week 2
Rank Team Record
Team Notes
1. (N/A)

IVC

(2-0)

iVentureCap is like a big market team. With corporate sponsorship, they can always get their pick of the talent. As long as (F) Joe Vines is on this roster, they're a contender to win it all and be promoted to Premier Division.
2. (N/A)

NGC

(2-0)

Gritty then, is like OKC, small market, no sponsorship, but they consistently put up contenders every season. It's been a long time since they've been in 1st Div, but they've brought a worthy roster. (F) Chris Youn will lead the way with new add (G) Jesse Kimmel. And, (C) Elbert Kwak returns to FBNYC.
3. (N/A)

ROC

(2-0)

They have tried 1st Div in the past, and it hasn't been good to them, but this season they might have just the right mix. A backcourt of (G) Greg Loeffert, and (G) Jon Keaveny is a great start, and adds to the front line in (F) Jason Durecout and (C) Dez James have paid off right away.
4. (N/A)

70S

(0-1)

Seventies lost to NGC, but if their roster is true they'll be a force. Same team from the spring season led by (F) Matija Petrovic (19 ppg) and (C) John Daly (17 ppg, 14 rpg), now with a bona fide wing scorer (F) Marlon Santos.
5. (N/A)

DEM

(1-0)

This is a team built for speed. Dem Boyz is a run & gun team that will try to out-shoot and out-hustle you. They're also a physical group that will throw their weight around. What they don't have is great height. They're is a rumor that (F) Chaz Thomas may also join the team. If so, watch out.
6. (N/A)

SXB

(0-2)

Sexy Bears have the same core players back, but they have added a shooter in (G) David Chu, and do-it-all (G) J.M. Grzan has also returned. They're not off to a good start, but this is a veteran team that can turn it around.
7. (N/A)

REN

(1-1)

In their first season as an FBNYC franchise, the Renaissance Men have done alright. (F) Matt Troja looks like he'll be a force, and the center piece of a very deep roster. (G) Eric White has also been very solid in two games.
8. (N/A)

WAR

(0-2)

The Warriors lost a heart-breaker to ROC, which may be a testament to how good they could be if things fall together. Seems like they still need a couple of more pieces. This roster is likely unfinished.
9. (N/A)

NYC

(0-2)

At first glance, it looked as if NYCE wasn't built for 1st Div play, but adding (G) Ben Lev and 6-7 (C) Alan Geygan is a good start at getting there. Both should help (F) DaVaughn Cunningham and (F) Sam Nam get this team competitive, and moving up the ladder.
Observations... Welcome back Elbert Kwak...  Josh Krapf and Nick Liveris would sure look good on the Warriors roster right now... Jesse Kimmel is aka "Pinkman"... too obvious... was Durecout's nine 3FGs a fluke? ...find out this week! ...don't sleep on the Seventies... Chu & Grzan the answer?
